Registration Data Storing

Post by rconn »

If I select "use both techniques", will it store the full registration info in both the registry and the specified file (so that only one or the other is required), or does it split the information between the two (so that both are required)?

If you choose both techniques Enigma will store info both in file and in registry. But, Enigma reads/checks registration info placed in registry firstly. If registration info in registry is not empty (just invalid) then Enigma thinks that there is not reg. info, but if registry does not have reg info, then Enigma reads info from file.

So, priority is for registry.

Why it was made so?
If you store registration info in registry, in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER" path, then it will be valid for currently logged user only. But if you store info in "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" then registration info will be valid for each user on PC. Sometimes it is necessary to store registration info not for perticular user but for each user in PC, then you select "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" path for license storing. But if user have not admistrative privileges (limited privileges) then Enigma will fail to write info into this branch of registry, in this case it is useful to use storing license in file.

The other way where it can help is vice versa, user has not limitations to write into "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE" path of registry, but has limitations of writing data to the files.
