Why does EVB phone home?

To check for updates? Can this be turned off, or made an option? Great program. Thanks.

Checking for update feature can't be disabled. It may be annoying, but it has to be there.
We are care that users are using the most latest version that has all necessary fixes and improvements.
Btw, you may use console version of EVB, it is located in the installation folder. It does not check for a new version.
