Hi Forum,
I was pleased to just now discover Enigma Virtual Box, with the intention of converting various installed applications to portable versions.
However, at first sight it seems that there is no before/after monitoring mode that can be used to capture the installation of an application, in order to catch all of the application's folders and registry entries.
I believe that this is difficult to impossible to do manually, as far as somewhat more complex installations are considered.
Or did I miss something?
Thanks very much for any information on this.
Best regards
David
How to find all folders and registry entries of an application?
Re: How to find all folders and registry entries of an application?
Hi David,
When I first installed Enigma Virtual Box, this was my first concern.
Without a doubt, it is impossible to "guess" where programs "hide" all of the files and the data they contain.
To monitor the installation, I use Master Repackager (yellow icon). I can see exactly which files and registry keys the installer generated.
Next, it compiles all of the documents into a .msi file and sends it to me along with brilliantly organized files.
Opening the .msi in Master Packager (blue icon) gives me the option to export the all the registry keys to a .reg file. Simply import them now.
Together, these three programs make the ideal set!
PS: Master Packager and Master Repackager are available for free.
