Always crashes on Windows XP

Post by zedaxy »

hi,

I'm using Enigma protector, and I've tried various options inside the program, and the protected exe runs fine on windows 7, vista and windows server 2008. However, I can NEVER get my protected exe to work on windows XP. I've tried on multiple windows XP machines.

I always get the error of 'send report' instantly when opening the program (on windows XP).

I even tried disabling ALL options inside enigma, then 'protected' it. Runs fine on Win 7 etc, but still same error in Windows XP.

How is this possible? Why can't I run the protected exe on a windows XP?

Hi zedaxy, there is some problem protecting particular net applications with the Enigma Protector 3.70. But the problem is fixed in recently released 3.80.

Hope you are using 3.70, if so you need to update to the latest one.

Thanks for the reply.
I downloaded the newest demo from your website. However, when I open enigma, it opens for 1 second, and immediately closes itself without giving an error (the enigma software)...

EDIT: nvm, running as admin solved it.

Yeap, current DEMO is not ideal too. Hope that recently released version will fix all the problems.

Hey listen. I just purchased the x86 enigma version, and I'd like to pay with my paypal balance. However, I only had 3 options to choose for payment method:
- Credit Card
- Wire Transfer
- Check

I choose the second option, but actually I'd like to just pay with my paypal balance. Can you do that for me? Thanks.

Let's wait until the order will be processed with the payment processor firstly. If they reject the order, then we will try to use direct paypal payment.

Thanks. I've got the license and it all works fine now, also on windows XP, but here are a few things I found:

1. About the 'inline protection'. I've read the help so I know what it means. It basically closes the program when it detects a change in protection. However, when I enable this feature, the program closes after a few seconds. In other words, it's too overprotected... Changing the delay for inline protection to a higher value, will let the program run a bit longer, then close it.

Setting more threads and a slower delay, will already close the program after 1 second. So it appears this inline protection is overprotected and closes my program already when nothing has happened...
Any thoughts?

2. When I enabled Virtual Machine File Entry point, I get this error when trying to run the output file:
Image
I tried to enable it because I saw you said here:
http://forum.enigmaprotector.com/viewto ... inline#p70
that the virtual machine protection made it very hard for crackers. Any thoughts why my output doesn't work anymore after enabling this?

3. After the exe has been gone through enigma, it severely slows down the starting up of the program. When you double click the un-obfuscated exe, it starts immediately. But when you run the protected one, it takes like 3 seconds for the program to open. Even when I disable all features inside enigma, it will takes 2-3 seconds. Is this normal?

Question:
Btw, is there also a lifetime version of enigma available? Because this tool is awesome :)

Hi zedaxy, sorry for the delay in reply, looks like your post just was lost somehow...

Yes, this is interesting behavior that sometimes happen but till now we were unable to reproduce it and fix. If it is possible, please send us non protected sample at support@enigmaprotector.com and we will check it out.

Yes, this feature is not compatible with net programs. But, looks like, it is working well for old version of NET Framework files..
To improve the protection I recommend you to use other methods, like Protection Strings, Virtual Box and the most better choice - carry some code in unmanaged dll and protect this dll applying code virtualization. This would be better than just entry point protection.

Yes, this is normally. When NET file starts it loads a numerous big framework dll files. Enigma Protector tries to get control over all loaded dll files and the process itself, and so it takes much time.

Yeap, thanks! But unfortunately, there is no lifetime version yet...
